NEMSMA 2017-2019 Board of Directors Candidate Information

The nominations process for this year’s NEMSMA Board of Director’s election has concluded and the information required of each candidate has been submitted to NEMSMA. The elections will run from November 7th through November 20th. As a member of NEMSMA who is eligible to vote, you may do so anytime during this specified two-week period.

This email is to provide you with access to the information submitted by each nominee through the link below. Please take the time to review this information to help you make a decision regarding your vote.

As a reminder, there are five Board seats open for this election. You should select five nominees of your choice. Three (3) of the open seats are for two (2) year terms and two (2) of the open seats for one (1) year terms.  The candidates who receive the higher number of votes will receive the longer term periods.

Voting members will receive an invitation to vote Monday, November 7.  Please follow the instructions on the electronic voting ballot. Once you cast your vote, it is final. Elections will run from November 7 to November 20, closing at 5 pm east coast time. Election results will be published and sent to NEMSMA members on December 5th.

Brian LaCroix Elected as NEMSMA President-Elect Taking Office on January 1st, 2017

Nominations and election for the National EMS Management Association (NEMSMA) President-Elect for the term of 2017 through 2018 were held at the October Board of Directors meeting. It is an honor to announce that the NEMSMA Board of directors has elected Brian LaCroix as President Elect, effective January 1st, 2017. Brian will serve a total of six years; two years as President-Elect, two years as President and then two years as Immediate Past President.

Brian has been an active member of the Board of Directors for the past 4 years while also serving as chairperson of the membership committee and liaison to the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada. Brian is the President & EMS Chief for Allina Health Emergency Medical Services, a hospital based EMS service out of the St. Paul, Minnesota area. Allina EMS operations serve over 1,000,000 Minnesota residents and provide 911 services in more than 120 communities. Brian has shown his outstanding leadership being an instrumental part of growing Allina EMS and strengthening the relationships with his community partners.

During Brian’s career in EMS he has worked as a volunteer firefighter, EMT, Paramedic, educator, author, peer counselor, manager and executive officer. He has presented at numerous conferences and he has been involved with state EMS development in both Wisconsin and Minnesota. He holds a paramedic degree, a bachelor’s degree in business and has completed post graduate studies in administration. He is also a well-respected artist in his community with a focus on paintings scenes related to the EMS profession.

Brian is excited to take on the role of President Elect of NEMSMA and looks forward to helping the organization and our profession advance during his tenure in office.

NEMSMA Board of Directors 2017 - 2019 Term

The Board of Directors of the National EMS Management Association is soliciting nominations for five (5) seats on the Board of Directors. Length of a term as a board member is either one year or two years based on which seats are open. For this election there are three (3) open seats for two (2) year terms and two (2) open seats for one (1) year term. The nominees who receive the higher number of votes will be awarded the longer term periods. The elected nominees will take office on January 1, 2017. This year, nominations are open from October 11th to October 25th. Elections will be held on line, from November 7th to November 20th.

Members of the Board of Directors are expected to become active participants in association affairs. This involves attendance at monthly board teleconferences, the annual meeting at the Pinnacle EMS Leadership Conference, and at other association functions. Directors typically serve as board liaisons of standing or special committees, represent the association as liaisons to one or more allied EMS associations and projects, and participate in the crafting of NEMSMA position statements on issues of concern to the EMS community. Board members are expected to regularly monitor and participate in the NEMSMA list-server.

Nominees must be members in good standing of NEMSMA prior to the opening of election balloting. Members may be nominated by other members, or may self-nominate (volunteer to serve). Nominees shall submit a digital photo (head shot), along with a 500 word (maximum) biographical/platform statement (reasons why the nominee wishes to serve on the NEMSMA board), as a single MS Word document. Candidates are required to submit a letter of recommendation from a NEMSMA member in good standing. Statements over 500 words will not be considered. All information must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. EST October 31st, 2016.

Prep Course Hosting and Fees

The ACPE encourages interested organizations, EMS events and test sites to consider hosting a Paramedic Officer exam prep course in conjunction with or separate from hosting an exam site.  To arrange for a prep course, contact the National EMS Management Association (NEMSMA) at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 888-424-9850. In order to host a prep course the following items are required at the host site’s expense:

  • A minimum of 10 and not more than 50 attendees
  • A suitable classroom space
  • Classroom style seating
  • Projection Screen
  • LCD or similar projection equipment
  • Information on any event related hotel room blocks and/or discounts

Prep Course Fees

Arrangements can be made for either NEMSMA, or the host site, to handle registration and course fees. For NEMSMA managed courses the fee schedule is as follows:

Supervising EMS Officer Prep Course
$175 for NEMSMA Members
$225 for Non-Members

For NEMSMA managed prep courses a 15 student minimum is required. NEMSMA will provide an instructor. Related travel costs will be billed to the host site.

For courses managed by the hosting site NEMSMA will bill actual costs for instructor honorarium, travel costs and a $75 per student fee.
